Description:
Esmelira contains Escitalopram, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used to treat
depression, anxiety disorders, and related mood disturbances. It works by increasing the levels
of serotonin, a chemical messenger in the brain that helps improve mood, emotional balance, and
sleep quality.
Esmelira is indicated for:
• Major depressive disorder (MDD)
• Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)
• Panic disorder
• Social anxiety disorder
• Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)

Directions for Use:

Adverse Effects
Esmelira (Escitalopram) is generally well tolerated for the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders. However, like all SSRIs, it may cause side effects in some individuals, especially during the initial weeks of therapy.
Major Side Effects (Seek immediate medical attention if any of these occur):
• Suicidal thoughts or behavior, especially in young adults
• Serotonin syndrome (agitation, hallucinations, rapid heartbeat, fever, muscle stiffness)
• Severe allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling of face/tongue/throat, difficulty breathing)
• Seizures (rare)
• Irregular heartbeat or QT prolongation (especially with electrolyte imbalance)
• Persistent bleeding or easy bruising (due to platelet inhibition)
Minor Side Effects (Usually mild and self-limiting):
• Nausea or upset stomach
• Headache
• Drowsiness or insomnia
• Dry mouth
• Increased sweating
• Dizziness or fatigue
• Decreased libido or sexual dysfunction
• Weight changes (usually mild)
Precautions:
• May take 1–2 weeks for noticeable improvement
• Can cause drowsiness, dizziness, or nausea initially
• Avoid alcohol and consult your doctor before combining with other CNS medications
